I am Afif^, currently a final-year PhD student in mathematics (won’t be for long!) at University of New South Wales, Australia, supervised by Alina Ostafe and Igor E. Shparlinski. Previously I graduated with a bachelor and master degree from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, supervised by Aleams Barra. I am expecting to start my new position as a postdoctoral researcher at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Ulsan, South Korea, from September 2026.
I am interested in various aspects of number theory and combinatorics. In particular, my PhD project studies arithmetic statistics of algebraic groups using techniques from analytic number theory. Click here for more information on my research and education.
My CV in pdf is available via this link. Here are the links to my Google Scholar, ORCID and zbMath profiles. My Erdős number is 3.
Outside of research, I am also involved in several mathematical outreach activities: for example, I wrote the following “moefied” math books (more information here):

I came from Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. I am a native in Bahasa Indonesia and Basa Banjar, and could speak English and Python. Outside of mathematics, I have various hobbies, as seen in this homepage.

A note on nickname.
^Muhammad is also fine, especially for non-Indonesians. Most Indonesians, including myself, do not have proper first-last name convention. See this Wikipedia link on this practice.Last updated in May 2026.
